spell checker game (wip) (name subject to change)
A downloadable game for Windows and macOS
Oh no! The company was supposed to release the new spell checking software today, but a last minute change broke everything (including the entire GitHub repo and all the other backups of the code) and no one knows why! Ordinarily, this would warrant pushing back the release date. Problem is, this is the fifth time this exact thing has happened (weirdly enough) and the customers are starting to get antsy.
But no worries! While the engineers work on fixing that weird bug, you and several other coworkers have been tasked with ensuring the release goes as planned and the users remain none the wiser. Until the fix comes in, you and your team just have to help ensure the service stays up and running by manually spell-checking everything yourselves! On your own, you're responsible for flagging misspelled words so Jim over in the next cubicle can evaluate and correct them (thank goodness you don't have his job!). It shouldn't be too hard, so get right to it!
Remember, we can't afford any more delays or screw-ups, so try not to make too many mistakes, 'kay? Our profits (and your continued employment) depend on how well you do!
Instructions are provided in-game. Click on words that are misspelled and don't click on words that aren't. Words will appear progressively faster as more users join. Make sure the company's revenue is always net positive - otherwise, you might get fired!
This is actually a very deep and profound critique of capitalism and dehumanization of workers and definitely not a random dumb project I slapped together with glue and duct tape to get more experience with Unity. I don't know why anyone would possibly think otherwise. Lol.
There's technically a win condition if the company makes $10,000. Or at least I think. I've never gotten anywhere close to achieving it. I'd be curious to know if it's possible.
Changelog
